Meet Moi….
Well Hello There…. Im glad you decided to stop by and give my very first blogging attempt a read. I’ve been wanting to pick this thing up for a while now, but the plethora of fears and uncertainties have followed this dream of mine. I discussed it with friends and acquaintances and still this nagging idea that I would be one of the billion blogging tadpoles makes me feel like this might be a lost cause. There are times when the fact that English isn’t my first language comes through in funny ways, and I have a feeling that would be noticed.
A was fortunate/ unfortunate ( you decide for yourself) to be born and raised in Bulgaria. Tiny, Eastern Europe Bulgaria, I even remember parts of the great communist regime and the fall there of.. The times after that were pure anarchy and bliss. As a teenager you had no curfew, no age requirements for alcohol consumption or any other substance. Concerts were everywhere and every day almost. Freedom was a magical thing that almost nobody knew what to do with. Legal drinking age was non existent, curfew - what does this word even mean? So fortunate to be growing up in a time of regime change. And then one day it abruptly ended… I was on a plane to Oklahoma. Geography was not a strong suit of mine, so I was totally excited and overwhelmingly scared at the same time. I had just barely turned 18 and the Friday night lights at my high school in the states were bright as the sun.
This is the gist of my beginning as an American… stick around for the rest…. as the old Bulgarian grandmas say -“Even when the bears are afraid, Im not”
